Evan Longoria is heading to the D-backs on a one-year contract, a source told MLB.com's Steve Gilbert on Friday. The club has not confirmed the deal.

Longoria, 37, was on the free-agent market for the first time in his 15-year career. He spent the previous five seasons with the Giants before the club opted to pay him a $5 million buyout in lieu of picking up his $13 million club option.

Free agent pitcher Nathan Eovaldi agreed to a contract on Tuesday with the Texas Rangers, the team announced late in the day.

The deal is for two years and $34 million, and it includes a third-year vesting player option, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan earlier in the day. Performance bonuses in the contract can take the total value even higher for the veteran.

Left-hander Rich Hill and the Pittsburgh Pirates are in agreement on a one-year, $8 million contract, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN, uniting Hill with his 12th big league team and setting him up to be the oldest player in Major League Baseball this season.

Hill, who turns 43 in March, carved out a role in recent years as a five-inning specialist. With the Boston Red Sox last season, he started 26 games and threw 124⅓ innings, posting a 4.27 ERA and putting up typically strong strikeout-to-walk numbers.

The New York Mets and free agent shortstop Carlos Correa are "working through" a medical issue after his physical with the team apparently showed the same right leg concerns which nixed a deal with the San Francisco Giants earlier in the week, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Correa, 28, agreed to a 12-year, $315 million contract with the Mets just hours after a deal with the Giants was put on hold because of concerns with Correa's lower right leg, which had been surgically repaired in 2014 after he broke his fibula on a slide during a minor league game. In the interim, Correa pivoted to the Mets, who had previously engaged on acquiring the star veteran.

Free agent reliever Craig Kimbrel and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a one-year, $10 million contract, sources confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The 14-year veteran and eight-time All-Star had an up-and-down first year with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.

Drew Smyly is returning to the Chicago Cubs on a two-year deal.

The contract is reportedly worth $19 million -- $8 million in 2023 and $8.5 million in 2024 with a $10 million mutual option for 2025 with a $2.5 million buyout.

Smyly made 22 starts for the Cubs in 2022, posting a 3.47 ERA.

The Chicago Cubs bolstered their defense again on Thursday, agreeing to a contract with Gold Glove-winning catcher Tucker Barnhart, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The two-year deal is for $6.5 million and includes a player option for 2024 as well as the potential to earn an additional $3 million in incentives, the source confirmed to ESPN and was reported by multiple media outlets.

The Los Angeles Angels and Brandon Drury have agreed to terms on a two-year, $17 million contract, according to sources.

Drury, 30, had a breakout 2022 season in which he hit .263/.320/.492 with 28 home runs and 87 RBIs. 

The Kansas City Royals have agreed to terms on a two-year, $17 million deal with Jordan Lyles.

Lyles, 33, has pitched for seven teams over 12 seasons. He had a 4.42 ERA with the Baltimore Orioles this past year.

Matt Carpenter has joined the San Diego Padres on a one-year contract.

The pact includes a player option for the 2024 season.

Carpenter, 37, hit 15 home runs in 47 games for the New York Yankees in 2022 before breaking his foot in early August.
